Excellent unexpensive place to stay before Altavia hike

Pros: We stayed in the pink building before starting our Altavia hike. The hosts and the room were a pleasant surprise. The room was basic, but clean, tidy, spacious. There was a small kitchenette, we made breakfast before going on the hike. The West bus stop is 1 minute walk from the hotel.

Cons: The room was basic, but ok.

Apartment with Tirol atmosphere

Pros: Our apartment was in a separate house, that we did not expect, but were told on the reception. Residenze Sonnenschein is located in 3 houses all together that are close to each other with their own parking and we liked our house even more than the central pink one. Apartment was nice and clean, we didn't mind old wooden furniture and windows, it perfectly matches the atmosphere and vibe of Villabassa town. View was also very nice. Location is perfect for cycling tours in South Tirol and for exploring of the area. We even enjoyed local firefighter festival, that was lovely. Heating was on even in July, but we didn't mind, as mornings were chilly. There was very nice restaurant nearby, however during weekend it was bit crowdy and we had to wait for the table.

Cons: There were extendable sofas instead of beds and eventhough there are mattresses on the top, they were not comfortable to sleep on. Normal beds would do much better. There was no toilet paper provided, but we knew this, so came prepared. Reception is hidden in the basement of the pink house and does not look very inviting.

Pros: The apartment is big and well- equiped and it has a great location.

Comfortable stay in beautiful little town. Very convenient for Lake Braise and Tre Cime bus

Pros: Beautiful little town, with bakery and deli, fantastic playground for kids and good food options. Close to Dobbiaco which was a bigger town and had transport to Tre Cime. We stayed in a different apartment to the pink house which had a deck with amazing views.

Cons: Even though there is a stovetop/fridge and pots/pans for cooking - kitchen supplies were not provided up front- bin bags, dishwashing detergent, tea towels etc. no tea or coffee provided. The staff member at reception did give us some when asked. It would have been good to be offered the free bus ticket that tourists can get from the start, we only found out about this after a few days, again reception sent it through to us after asking. It would have also been good to be given an heads up that Lake Braise and Tre Cime walks need to be booked in advance. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.

Pros: Very nice place, close to Tre Chime and all others places in Dolomites. There was only one small minus. Missing dishwashing sponge in the kitchen. Parking was very close.

Great place for stopover

Pros: Great location, close to the city, where lots of restaurants. The hotel has its own restaurant, but we came too late. Room was spacious and clean, has everything is needed

let’s just say it was always playtime

Pros: I like how the curtains created a sense of mystique while wrapping round my petit yet curvy frame… the neighbours had no idea what was going on… really recommend if you fancy a bit of play time with the missy.

Cons: When we got there the house was green not pink …question mark… maybe it’s because I’m colour blind.

Pros: The room was clean and the area quiet, close to Villabassa train station. We had all the facilities we needed.

Pros: Location, parking, room, village, size of room, small entry hall.

Cons: Kitchen too small, light in room and kitchen cold be improved.

Very good, will visit again when I come back for more hiking

Pros: The location was perfect! Very close to a bus stop and the top-floor room had amazing views! The lady that met us at reception and got us checked in was very nice and helpful. The kitchenette area, whilst small, was exactly what we needed to cook ourselves dinner and make lunches for our hikes. It was very well equipped as well! The bathroom was very good and the shower pressure was great!

Cons: Can’t really think of anything other than having bin bags in the room?
